LinkedIn Feed Post Image Size

The most reliable LinkedIn post image size is 1200 x 627 pixels — the same 1.91:1 shape LinkedIn uses for link previews — while square 1080 x 1080 images take up more vertical space in the feed and often perform better. This page covers the dimensions, ratios and file limits for single-image and multi-image posts.

Which shape should you choose?

Landscape at 1200 x 627 is the safe default: it matches LinkedIn's link-preview proportions and never gets an awkward crop. Square at 1080 x 1080 occupies more of the feed on both desktop and mobile, which tends to help visibility, and portrait at 1080 x 1350 goes further still — though very tall images are trimmed on desktop.

Consistency matters more than the exact pick. Choose one shape per campaign so your feed presence looks deliberate, and keep any text large enough to read at feed width on a phone.

  • Landscape (1200 x 627): the safest, never heavily cropped.
  • Square (1080 x 1080): more feed real estate, good all-rounder.
  • Portrait (1080 x 1350): maximum presence, slight desktop crop.
  • Avoid very wide panoramas — they shrink to a thin strip.

Multi-image posts

You can attach up to nine images to a single post. LinkedIn lays them out in a grid and crops each thumbnail to a square, so centre the subject of every photo. Mixed orientations in one post produce uneven crops, so stick to a single ratio across the set.

If you want people to swipe through pages of designed content in order, a carousel document post is the better format — that has its own dimensions, covered on the carousel page.

File size and quality

Keep each image under 5 MB. LinkedIn compresses uploads, and starting from a clean, correctly sized export survives that compression far better than an oversized original. PNG suits graphics with text; JPG suits photography.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best image size for a LinkedIn post?
1200 x 627 pixels for landscape, or 1080 x 1080 for a square image that fills more of the feed. Keep the file under 5 MB.
Is square or landscape better for LinkedIn posts?
Square (1080 x 1080) generally earns more visibility because it takes up more vertical space in the feed, while landscape (1200 x 627) is the safest against cropping.
How many images can a LinkedIn post have?
Up to nine. Thumbnails in the grid are cropped square, so centre the subject of each photo.
Why does my LinkedIn post image look blurry?
Usually because the upload was much smaller than the display size and LinkedIn stretched it, or because a very large file was compressed aggressively. Export at the recommended dimensions.
