LinkedIn Character Counter

Type or paste your post and see the character count update live, along with how much room is left before LinkedIn's post limit. It also counts words, lines, and paragraphs, so you can tighten a draft without pasting it into the composer and risking an accidental publish.

This tool is in progress

How it works

  1. 1Paste or type your post text.
  2. 2Watch the character count and remaining allowance update live.
  3. 3Trim until you are comfortably inside the limit.

What this tool does

  • Characters used and characters remaining
  • Word, line, and paragraph counts
  • A warning as you approach the limit

Frequently asked questions

How long can a LinkedIn post be?
A standard feed post allows roughly 3,000 characters. Other fields, such as headlines and comments, have their own shorter limits.
Do emoji count as one character?
Not always. Many emoji are made of several code points, so a single emoji can use more than one character of your allowance.
Does the counter include spaces?
Yes. Spaces and line breaks both count toward the limit.
