LinkedIn displays your profile photo as a circle, so a square image is what you want to upload. Anything from 400 x 400 pixels upward works, and larger squares give the platform room to render crisply on high-density screens. Framing for a circular crop
Because the corners of your square are cut away, anything near an edge is lost. Centre your face and leave a little space above your head so the crop does not clip it. Head and shoulders fill the circle better than a full-length shot, which shrinks your face to a few pixels in the feed.
Remember the photo appears at 48 pixels beside comments. Test by shrinking your image right down: if you cannot recognise yourself, simplify the background and move closer.

- Square, at least 400 x 400 pixels, under 8 MB. Larger squares such as 800 x 800 are fine and look sharper on high-resolution screens.
- Why is my profile photo blurry?
- Usually because it was scaled up from a small original, or heavily compressed before upload. Start from the largest version you have.
- Does the profile photo cover my banner?
- Yes. It overlaps the lower left of the banner, so leave that corner clear when designing one.
